GM TPMS
TPMS or Tire Pressure Monitoring System is fitted to GM cars to provide a warning of low pressure on any one of four or five tires on the vehicle (five if TPMS fitted in spare).
A TPMS from one of two manufacturers is fitted as part of the valve assembly in all GM cars according to the table shown below. The sensor measures the pressure and temperature in the tire and transmits this data along with the unique ID of the TPMS to the tire pressure monitor ECU/receiver. If the TPMS ID is logged with the BCM then it is compared with the placard pressure and if under pressure then a warning light is lit on the dash mounted display.
GM TPMS types and Fitment
A TPMS from one of three manufacturers is fitted as part of the valve assembly in all GM cars according to the table shown below. The sensor measures the pressure and temperature in the tire and transmits this data along with the unique ID of the TPMS to the tire pressure monitor WCM (Wireless Control Module) and EVIC. If the TPMS ID is logged with the WCM then it is compared with the placard pressure and if under pressure then a warning light is lit on the EVIC or dash.
The manufacturers of the GM TPMS are Schrader Electronics, VDO and TRW. The GM Model range utilising TPMS Technology includes the following brands:
- Chevrolet Aveo, Cobalt, Corvette, HHR, Impala, Malibu, Avalanche - TPMS Sensors
- Colorado, Silverado, Equinox, Suburban, Tahoe, Trailblazer, Express, Uplander - TPMS Sensors
- Buick Enclave, Lacrosse, Lucerne - TPMS Sensors
- Pontiac G5, G6 Sedan, Grand Prix, Solstice, G6 Coupe, G8, Torrent - TPMS Sensors
- GMC Sierra, Canyon, Acadia, Yukon, Envoy, Savana - TPMS Sensors

The tables below show which models they are fitted to.
Grey indicates either no TPMS, it was indirect TPMS, or the model was discontinued.
